Charles de Noailles et les jardins – Brussels (Belgium)

Particularly well-known for his exceptional patronage towards avant-garde movements, the Viscount Charles de Noailles (1891-1981) devoted a great share of his life to gardens and botanics. Along with Lawrence Johnston, Edith Wharton and Vita Sackville-West, he is among the long-lasting lineage of impassioned enthusiasts and specialists who played a decisive role in the history of parks and gardens.
This exhibition offers an initiation into the key events of Charles de Noailles’ “gardening” career, via period photographs, old illustrative plates and magazines, Fonds René Pechère plans, original letters, reproductions and other precious documents.
The event is organised within the framework of the Rob Mallet-Stevens exhibition. Paris – Bruxelles – Hyères (Paris – Brussels – Hyères), by the Département Jardin, Paysage et Écosystème urbain (Garden, landscape and urban ecosystem department).
