Flore et jardin fleuri – Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France)
From their property, La Thébaïde, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the painter and decorator Paul Véra (1882-1957) and the garden theoretician André Véra (1881-1971) contributed towards the international influence of Art Deco.
Via this exhibition, thanks to his talent as a watercolour artist, Paul Véra does not content himself with simply projecting the garden drawings theorised by his brother, but he goes on to compose some of them as genuine works of art. The classical allegories of Flora and Spring, recreated in a more contemporary portrayal, become his delicious protagonists.
