Jardins de voyageurs – Arc et Senans (France)
The period from 1775 to 1779, during which the royal salt mine was built, was also the time of the great explorers, who were driven by their great desire to discover and to learn, to acquire and to share knowledge. Designed and created from September 2014 to June 2015, in partnership with 22 higher education and training institutions from France’s eastern regions and from Switzerland, the Jardins des Voyageurs (travellers’ gardens) comprise 12 plots designed as imaginary journeys, the painters’ journey, the writers’ East, the spiritual paradise, the immobile journey or the quest for the terrestrial Eden.
