Le domaine de Richelieu, du château du Val au parc du Cardinal – Rueil-Malmaison (France)

The Domaine de Richelieu, from the Château du Val to the Cardinal park

In the first half of the 17th century, the Cardinal Duke of Richelieu had created an estate in Rueil that was condisered by his contemporaries to be one of the finest of its time. Today, historians place the Richelieu estate as an essential element in the history of gardens. It represents a link between the influence of Italian Renaissance in France and formal French gardens.
The Domaine de Richelieu, from the Château du Val to the Cardinal park exhibition will retrace the estate’s history over three centuries. It will tell the story of this fairytale and mysterious garden.
The exhibition will also present a development project for a future public park, the Cardinal Park, which will open its gates in 2021.

Around the exhibition :
– Sunday 26th January 2020 at 3.3.pm: A conference and musical interlude offered by Diane Brochier, art historian and the musicians from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Rueil-Malmaison.
– Throughout the exhibition, the Jacques Baumel media library will be proposing a selection of works on the themes presented.
