Le pouvoir des fleurs, Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) et Résonances contemporaines avec les métiers d’art – Paris (France)

The power of flowers, Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) and contemporary resonance with fine craft

Thanks to the generosity of the National Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Romantics is organising an exhibition devoted to Pierre-Joseph Redouté, nicknamed the ‘Raphael of Flowers’, and to his influence. This botanical painter contributed towards the golden age of natural science in association with the greatest naturalists of his time. He offered a response to their concerns on the identification and listing of plants imported from the four continents by reproducing them in the form of watercolour paintings on precious vellum. The painter of sovereigns, from the Empress Josephine to the Queen Maria Amalia, he was also an engraver, publisher and professor.
This exhibition is produced via an exceptional partnership with the National Museum of Natural History and is co-organised with the Ateliers d’Art de France.
