Les jardins de l’Abbaye Saint-Hydulphe de Moyenmoutier by Luc MEINARD – Lunéville (France)

The gardens of the Abbey of Saint Hidulf in Moyenmoutier

Founded in 671 by Saint Hidulf, the splendid Baroque Abbey of Moyenmoutier in the Vosges region was, for a long time, home to this learned Benedictine monk. From the French Revolution to 2002, its gardens were gradually occupied by industrial buildings, which cast a shadow over the majority of the monastic buildings. In 2016, after a two-year clean-up and three years of restoration work, the 4-hectare garden was inaugurated, bringing back to life the site’s 18th century splendour. The landscape designer Luc Meinrad coordinated work during this vast campaign. He will tell the story of the site’s restoration.
Organised in partnership with the IHSCE (European cultural history institute).
