Poétique de la mousse, des jardins japonais aux jardins bretons – Lanrivain (France)

The poetry of moss, from Japanese to Breton gardens

During a film production in the seignorial garden of Kenroku-en in Kanazawa, the landscaper and presenter of ‘Jardins d’ici et d’ailleurs’ TV show on the French Arte channel, Jean-Philippe Teyssier, was intrigued by the activities of five gardeners who were working on a small plot of around ten square metres. Kneeling on the ground, close together, they sorted and weeded each stem of moss, one by one, slowly making their way, with the precision of a watchmaker, creating balance and harmony that were imperceptible to the novice. The manner in which they approached moss was very different from Westen behaviour.
For two days, with the best botanists, together with specialists and gardeners who will be coming from Japan for the occasion, the story of this living organism that is ill-famed in Europe, yet venerated in Japan will be presented.
Event organized in the context of the Lieux Mouvants.
