Restaurer un jardin historique : un projet entre rêve et réalité by Frédérique TEZENAS DU MONTCEL – Château de Bénouville

Restoring a historic garden: a project between dream and reality

For the past ten years, Frédérique Tézenas has been working in the haute couture of gardens, accompanying historic garden managers in their garden conservation and enhancement projects. She will offer an insight into the way she interprets and intervenes on historic gardens, by referring to specific cases, in particular her work on the gardens of the Château de Joyeux (Ain), a rare private ensemble created by Henri and Achille Duchêne.

Frédérique Tézenas du Montcel

Frédérique Tézenas du Montcel has always nourished an interest in garden development and conservation. Initially an engineer in horticultural techniques and in landscape, she pursued her study via a course directed by Monique Mosser entitled “Historic gardens, heritage and landscape” at the National School of Architecture in Versailles.  In 2008, after testing her installation project, she created Jardin-Patrimoine, an agency specialising in the creation and restoration of historic gardens.
