Robert des Ruines : revoir, réinterpréter, restaurer – La Roche-Guyon (France)

Robert of the Ruins: reviewing, reinterpreting, restoring

This colloquium will reunite a range of perspectives on the painted and built works of Hubert Robert. Historians will unveil their latest research on the life and career of the painter and garden designer. Chief Architects from the French Historic Monuments department who have been involved in restoring these landscapes and buildings will share their experience and their knowledge on the artist. Garden and associated structure owners and managers will, in turn, talk of the challenges involved in preserving and valorising these delicate and richly nuanced compositions. The aim of such intervention is to highlight avenues, strategies and approaches for projects to restore and valorise the landscaped garden at the Château de La Roche-Guyon and the Mauperthuis pyramid, and the Méréville estate.
Free entry upon prior registration and buffet (subject to a fee) by reservation.
