Du parc du château de Lunéville à la place royale de Nancy by Vincent BRADEL – Lunéville (France)
From the Château de Lunéville gardens to Nancy’s Place Stanislas
From the influence of garden art on 17th century urban art
When he arrived in Lorraine, Stanislaw I Leszczyński was offered a princely legacy. Multiple residences, but also gardens within which he endeavoured to play philosophers and to reshape the world. This experience led him to the heart of Nancy, for a project aimed at renewing urban art through highly mineral inspiration. Whilst taking care to centre Lorraine’s capital around a statue of the King of France, future master of the place, the project outlined an urban landscape equally open to the surrounding territory as it was to garden art.
