Les Rencontres de l’Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages / Memory – Paris (France)

30 October 2024 / 6pm-8pm

Whilst the garden roots us into the here and now, it is always swathed in memory: that of the plants it comprises, that of the dreams it embodies or the events of which it has been the theatre, but also that of the land and the climatic events that have altered its face over time. It is as a historian, an artist, a botanist and – more recently – thanks to paleobotanic tools, that we can attempt to grasp all this memorial, fleeting and complex dimension of the garden. Encounter with a few of the authors of the latest issue of Jardins magazine, devoted to memory.

An encounter with Jean-Marc Besse (philosopher and historian, CNRS – National Centre for Scientific Research – research director), Claire Le Restif (art historian, director of the Le Crédac Contemporary Art Centre in Ivry-sur-Seine), Stéphanie Thiébault (paleo- and archaeobotanist) and Marco Martella (director of Jardins magazine).

The last issue of Jardins, focusing on the same theme, will be on sale at the end of the encounter.
