- Symposium
Repton and Horticulture – Sheffield (United Kingdom)
This year marks the two hundredth anniversary of the death of Humphry Repton, England’s first ‘landscape gardener’ and the creator of famous Red Books that illustrated ‘before’ and ‘after’ proposals for his clients. The conference will feature national and international experts on Repton, as well as a tour of the nearby Repton landscape at Wentworth Woodhouse. It will appeal not just to Repton academics; it will be relevant to those who own and manage late Georgian gardens, researchers in the county gardens trusts, landscape architects involved in restoration projects, horticultural and garden history students, and anyone with an interest in plants and design in a historical context.
