La place de l’arbre dans la création d’un jardin by Marc BRILLAT-SAVARIN – Deauville (France)
30 April 2022 / 3pm-4:30pm
The role of trees in garden creation
Via this event, which echoes with the ‘Vous êtres un arbre !’ (You are a tree) exhibition, Marc Brillat-Savarin shares his views and his knowledge of gardens. How, and based on what logic, do we choose plant and tree species? Based on what visual, plant, sound, aromatic and symbolic interest? How does the choice of trees organise the garden space and the casting of light or shadow in gardens? How does the tree arouse our five senses in the garden?
A qualified waterway and forest engineer, Marc Brillat-Savarin currently works as an arboriculture expert and independent landscape architect. He has worked successively at the ONF (French National Forests Office), then at the Paris City Council’s directorate for parks and gardens, before working privately.
With a passion for heritage and the desire to strive towards the preservation of historic parks, he founded the BrillatSavarin Paysages company, based in Angers, in 2014. As such, he works throughout France on public and private garden creation or restoration projects. He is a reference in the field of trees and landscape, also engaged in training (Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, Agrocampus Ouest landscaping school in Angers) and popularisation (Demeure Historique, SNHF – French National Horticultural Society) missions.
