Les Rencontres de l’Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages – Paris (France)
The European Institute for Gardens and Landscapes Encounters
Since 2013, the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages has taken on the mission of disseminating knowledge of European landscape heritage, its development and improvements in exchanges between researchers and collaborators in the field.
Within this context, over and above the conferences aimed at garden enthusiasts, which have been held for several years in Caen and Bénouville (Calvados), the institute is now proposing a cycle of encounters focusing on major topics associated with gardening practice and philosophy. Particular attention is paid to the manner in which landscape has contributed, and continues to do so, to the edification of a European identity. These events are also excellent opportunities for specialists in a number of fields (historians, landscapers, philosophers, artists, gardeners, etc.) to debate and reflect together. They are also open to the general public, and are filmed and broadcast via the institute’s website.
As of March 2023, these encounters will be hosted by the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris, which, for the past sixty years, has been devoted to the promotion of knowledge in the social sciences on an international scale.
Theme of the first edition: The garden and music
In the presence of the composer Jean-Luc Hervé, essayists Eryck de Rubercy and Eric Dussert, and of the editor of the Jardins magazine, Marco Martella.
