In foliis folia : arbres et forêts – Chantilly (France)
In foliis folia: trees and forests
Trees and books are partly connected. The Latin word liber means both book and bark, whilst, since time immemorial, trees and forests have inspired our imagination and our thoughts.
The Cabinet des Livres explores these various links forged from the Middle Ages to modern times. Symbols of life, knowledge or freedom, the personified trees of fables, the orchards of poets and lovers, the forests of tales and legends, trees of all sorts are the increasingly depicted living resources that will contribute to adding a hint of magic to the Cabinet des Livres throughout the summer.
