Intervenir dans les jardins historiques, leçons et défis – Versailles (France)
Intervening in historic gardens, lessons and challenges
Around forty years after the adoption of the Florence Charter, the ICOMOS document that governs intervention in garden heritage, this event proposes to take stock of current theories and practice in restoring and promoting heritage in the parks and gardens of France, to contemplate the epistemological framework in which these interventions are devised and the social and environmental demands that historic gardens must satisfy.
With support from a number of partners and stakeholders, and from a network of former students who remain actively involved in several institutions, the educational team hopes to offer a time for reflection, considering the theme both from a retrospective and a prospective angle.
