Liancourt, grand parc à fontaines au XVIIe siècle : l’hydraulique au service du paysage by Jean-Louis BERNARD – Château de Bénouville
Liancourt, vast 17th century fountain park: hydraulics to serve landscape
The archaeological research conducted in Liancourt since 2011 enables us to observe the bygone reality of a famous 17th century fountain garden which comprised no less than 20 canals, ponds, fountains and waterfalls and over 160 water jets. Excavation on one of the borders located close to the château, together with a study of the soil over several hectares of the former park, have offered improved understanding of the initial design, the development campaigns, the organisation of space and the distribution of pressurised water.
