Rendez-vous aux jardins (France)
Garden Encounters
The theme of ‘Garden animals’ invites participants to consider man’s relationship with his environment and with biodiversity. Animals can be a nuisance for certain gardeners: box tree moth, aphid (greenfly), Colorado potato beetle, slug, rodents, roe deer, etc. but they can also help to maintain the garden: ladybird, worm, pollinator, hedgehog, sheep, draught horse, etc. Animals are an essential component in zoological gardens and can also offer a source of adornment such as the peacock, or be a recurrent subject for garden statues.
