Un label de création et de production paysagère au service du territoire by Gilbert FILLINGER – Château de Bénouville
A label for landscape design and creation, to serve the territory
In 2018, upon the initiative of the President of the Hauts-de-France Regional Council, the Art & Jardins Hauts-de-France association took over the organisation of the Festival International de Jardins, held at Les Hortillonnages in Amiens, created in 2010.
Directed by Gilbert Fillinger, its action now covers the entire territory, via long-term proposals such as the Jardins de la Paix trail, established in Great War heritage sites and created by landscapers from the various countries involved, the community gardens in the mining basin, the gardens of the Somme valley, partnerships with the Lille 3000 association within the context of the Eldorado parade, and a landscape project with the Louvre Lens.
It also coordinates cross-border international projects with Belgium and the United Kingdom, together with Iran and Morocco, projects on the theme of gardens and their societal and environmental challenges, with particular attention on the subject of water and food. Young creation is offered great attention.
Gilbert Fllinger
Gilbert Fillinger is the director of Art & Jardins Hauts-de-France in Amiens. He has acted successively as director of the Maison de la Culture (cultural centre) in Bourges, from 1996 to 2005, and in Amiens from 2005 to 2017. Within the latter, in 2010 he created the Festival International de Jardins, held at Les Hortillonnages in Amiens, devoted to young creators, and for which insertion through employment is a major theme. Launched in 2017, Art & Jardins is essentially funded by the Hauts-de-France Regional Council and through patronage. Several projects have been initiated, such as the Jardins de la Paix (peace gardens) on World War I heritage sites, community gardens in the mining basin, the gardens of the Somme valley, the realisation of 7 artistic works and gardens within the context of the Eldorado parade/Lille3000 and cross-border projects with Belgium. Other international cooperatons, particularly on the theme of water and food, are currently underway with the city of Tehran and the National School of Architecture in Marrakech.
