Aménager son jardin by Stéphane MARIE and Dany SAUTOT – Château de Bénouville

Fitting out your garden… For many inexperienced gardeners, the task can seem a complex one – far more complex than fitting out your house. In the wake of the book he co-wrote with Dany Sautot, Penser et aménager son jardin (Le Chêne, 2016), Stéphane Marie will be sharing twenty-five years of experience and experiments in his gardens in La Maubrairie, from his very first pruning in 1990 to the present day.
From reviewing potential to establishing a dialogue between the garden and the surrounding landscape, from the notion of space to the garden’s construction, from organising perspectives to creating transparency… so many questions will be approached so that each budding gardener can imagine and develop his/her garden with neither hang-ups nor hiccups.

Stéphane Marie and Dany Sautot

Born in Cotentin and graduated from the Orleans School of Fine Arts, Stéphane Marie worked in the theatre for twelve years. In the early 1990s, he returned to live in his childhood home of La Maubrairie – a house with a plot of land – where he developed a passion for gardening. Since 1998, he has been presenting Silence, ça pousse !, a France 5 TV programme on gardening.
Dany Sautot works for L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui magazine on the theme of landscape. Since 2003, she has worked as editor for Carnet des Tendances du Jardin and has contributed, since 1997, to the Journées des Plantes de Chantilly (formerly Courson) flower show. She also acts as commissioner for exhibitions in the decorative arts.
Both speakers have co-written various works on gardens for the Editions du Chêne publishers.
