Conversations under the tree. The healing garden
As an incessantly renewed place of dialogue between nature and culture, the garden is a virtuoso of metamorphosis. Both a symbol of world order, created for the unique pleasure of the eye, and a multi-chapter book of knowledge, the garden is a living myth that thrusts those who visit into a multitude of intellectual, olfactory, visual, tactile, and also gustatory and audible emotions. The garden is a kingdom for the five senses, a place that arouses both body and soul, offering them opportunities for pleasure and fulfilment. An enclosed area where humans ingeniously tame and sublime nature according to their chosen criteria, the garden is – from childhood to old age – a haven, a source of entertainment, a necessity. People come to remember, to seek nourishment, to learn and to work, for amusement and reverie, but also to confront the laws that reign over our universe. In the garden, there is no illusion: the fate of one depends on the development of the whole.
