Designing a garden
The museum is organising an exhibition on how to represent a garden, comprised of its finest works of graphic art. By reuniting around fifty works (drawings, prints), the exhibition will highlight, thanks to a few plans and several views, the gardens of the fine properties and private dwellings that earned Île-de-France, the town of Sceaux in particular, the epithet of ‘séjour des délices’ (delicious destination). Via a chronological trail, this rich yet unfamiliar collection will, thanks to the artist’s eye, revive the memory of these splendid and secluded estates and holiday homes, there where the nobility and illustrious ministers stayed, welcomed and hosted sumptuous receptions.
