Jardins Históricos de Portugal. Memória e Futuro – Lisbon (Portugal)
The historic gardens of Portugal are perhaps the least known cultural asset, the finest, but also the most threatened. These sites perpetuate and renew the Potuguese people’s relationship with nature, whilst remaining representative of Portugal’s identity.
The exhibition is organised around three major highlights: Memórias Incompletas (Incomplete memories), offering testimonies on Portuguese gardens from the National Library of Portugal collection; Memórias Reconstruídas (Rebuilt memories), with present-day representations of the main types of historic gardens to be found in Portugal – botanical gardens, public parks and gardens, and Um Presente com Futuro (Present and future), inviting you to discover the 12 tourist trails of Portugal’s historic gardens.
