La ville en ses jardins – Paris (France)
The city in its gardens
The subject of renewed interest within the context of climate change, gardens have always played a major role in towns and cities. Conventual gardens, the gardens of private mansions, castle gardens now open to the public, nursery gardens, botanic gardens, etc. In a multitude of forms and uses, these areas have – since the early modern period – aroused reflection on garden art and on the social dimensions they foster.
Via a few examples, the Historic Committee conferences, hosted within the Petit Palais in Paris, offer an autumnal invitation through the alleyways of the gardens in and around Paris, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
