L’Orangerie des Princes de Condé – Chantilly (France)
The Condé Princes’ Orangery in Chantilly
This exhibition will be bringing back to life the vast orangery once boasted by the Domaine de Chantilly. Firmly inspired by the 17th and 18th century decorative tree vogue, the Orangery was to represent aesthetics, the economy and the symbols established by Louis de Bourbon, Prince of Condé, aka ‘le Grande Condé’ and a rival to the Sun King in his quest for splendour. The exhibition will focus on the building’s history and purpose. Architectural drawings, prints and letters will offer visitors an insight into some of the estate’s bygone pages in history.
