Malmaison, un jardin d’expérience – Rueil-Malmaison (France)
Malmaison, an experimental garden
The exhibition, which will be held in the Bois-Préau orangery, aims to show the public how, two centuries after the death of the Empress, garden art has continued to pursue the dream of the ‘marvellous Creole’ that hoped to see America grow here in Malmaison. This installation shall be organised around three main themes: the experimental and acclimatisation garden, where seeds and plants come from across the globe and – the highlight – a model hot house, offers an insight and improved understanding of the capital importance of this quite unique building; the working estate, with its merino wool sheep farm, inspired by the imperial sheepfold in Rambouillet; the floral garden, thanks to the greenhouses to ensure that the flower beds and lounges are always in blossom.
