Philippe Grunchec : l’appel du Désert de Retz – Sceaux (France)
The Hauts-de-Seine Council is presenting recently donated works by the photographer Philippe Grunchec, depicting the Désert de Retz landscaped garden, at the Musée du Domaine Départemental in Sceaux. The exhibition includes twenty-three pictures illustrating the follies of this exceptional Anglo-Chinese garden designed in 1774 by François Racine de Monville and located on the edge of the Marly forest. Since all of these large-format photographs were taken before the Désert de Retz restoration campaign, they bear precious witness to the site as it was in its unkempt state, totally overwhelmed by foliage.
