La restauration d’un jardin historique by Daniel PIQUET – Château de Bénouville
The restoration of a historic garden
This presentation will highlight the different phases involved in the restoration of the Le Coscro historic garden. From observing the land and its environment to the restoration itself, via archive consultation and on-site archaeological research, such was the work undertaken to bring the garden back to its original 17th century state.
Daniel Piquet
Located in the département of Morbihan, in the Pays Pourleth more precisely, Le Coscro is a classical style country dwelling. All existing buildings and the gardens were built and created in the 17th century by the Lantivy family. After many luxurious periods, Le Coscro gradually fell into neglect and the garden was transformed into farming land. Daniel Piquet and his wife Sylvie have owned the property since June 1984, when they began to salvage the buildings, then the surrounding grounds which had suffered over two centuries.
