Villengärten 1830-1930: Geschichte, Bestand, Gefährdung – Munich (Germany)

Villa gardens 1830-1930: history, inventory, dangers

The garden is an integral part of the villa, and is characterised by a correlation between architecture and the shaping of nature. Villa gardens are also the features that define historic cultural landscapes. Nevertheless, they are increasingly threatened by the rising cost of land, by urban densification or by ignorance of their historic importance. This event aims at increasing public awareness of the value of villa gardens in terms of history and heritage.
This event is organised by the Bayerischen Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (Bavarian Office for the Protection of Historical Monuments) and the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte (Central Institute on History of Art), in partnership with the “Gartendenkmalpflege” (historic garden preservation) workgroup from the Vereinigung der Landesdenkmalpfleger in Deutschland e.V.
