Jean-Noël Capart is a landscaper and urban planner of Belgian origin. He graduated from the Athenaeum School of Architecture and Design in Lausanne (in 1962). He continued his Urban Design studies at the University of California (Berkeley), then as an urban planner in Belgium. He created his own design office in 1968 (JNC international S.A.), for which he remains an active consultant. Jean-Noël Capart’s main office is in Brussels; however, he also has an office in Lyon and another in Wallonia. He has worked in over twenty different countries. His activities range from private gardens to city districts via large landscapes. He personally directed and coordinated, in association with Bertrand Warnier (an urban planner), a study and a seminar on the large landscape of Ile de France within the context of major and currently developing projects. Along with Jacques Simon, he developed the project for the Parc de la Deule (700 hectares) which obtained the French Grand Prix du Paysage (national landscape award) and the European Landscape Award in 2011. He acted as president of the René Pechère library in Brussels, for which he remains the administrator, and he created the René Pechère literary prize.
