Bibliothèque

Since 2013, the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages, in collaboration with the department of Calvados, has been building up a reference library dedicated to gardens and landscapes. Bringing together almost 1,500 books and around forty European periodicals such as Gardenia, Gardens Illustrated, L’Art des Jardins, Les Jardins d’Eden, Die Gartenkunst and Les Carnets du Paysage, this collection is a valuable resource for professionals in the sector, students and researchers, as well as garden enthusiasts.

The library, which is temporarily closed due to the relocation of its premises, plans to reopen in 2027. It will be enriched and once again accessible to the public.

Jardin & littérature

Actes du colloque Jardin & littérature, Editions des Falaises, 2020

Normandy has long been a source of literary inspiration and a land of writing. The colloque Jardin & littérature, held in Caen from 9 to 12 May 2019*, explored the many, prolific, sometimes symbiotic and always unique links between landscape art, gardening and poetic creation, and the imaginary at work in literature. This book brings together the papers presented at the conference. Richly illustrated, it opens the doors to writers’ gardens in Normandy and Europe, and takes you on a stroll through writings, whatever their genre, in which the poetics of the garden play a fundamental role.

Literary prize awarded by the Académie des Sciences, Arts et Belles-Lettres de Caen in 2021.

*Organised by the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages and the Région Normandie.
