- our library

Since 2013, and in partnership with the Calvados Council, the European Institute for Gardens and Landscapes has compiled a collection of reference documents focusing on gardens and landscape. Reuniting around 1,500 works, together with around forty European periodicals such as Gardenia, Gardens Illustrated, L’Art des Jardins, Les Jardins d’Eden, Die Gartenkunst or Les Carnets du Paysage, this collection offers a precious source of information for associated professionals, students, researchers or simple garden enthusiasts.
The library, which is temporarily closed due to a move of premises, is scheduled to reopen in 2027. It will be further enhanced and remain open to the public.

Proceedings of the Jardin & Littérature colloquium, Editions des Falaises 2020
Normandy has long since been a source of literary inspiration and a land of writing. The ‘Jardin & Littérature’ (Garden & Literature) colloquium held from 9 to 12 May 2019 in Caen explored the multifarious, prolific, sometimes symbiotic and always singular links that are forged between landscape art and gardening, and poetic creation and imagination in literary works. The present publication reunites the various interventions during this colloquium. Boasting a wealth of illustrations, it opens the gates of writers’ gardens, in Normandy and in Europe, offering you a journey through written works, independently of their generic category, where the poetry inherent to gardens plays a fundamental role.
Prix littéraire de l’Académie des Sciences, Arts et Belles-Lettres, Caen (Caen Academy of Science, Arts and Literature literary prize) for 2021.
* organised by the European Institute for Gardens and Landscapes and the Normandy Regional Council.
