In 2025, the European Institute of Gardens and Landscapes integrated the CaeSAR (Caen strategy for accelerating research) project, and benefits from state support managed by the ANR (French National Research Agency) within the framework of its France 2030 programme, referenced ANR-23-EXES-0001, and from the Normandy Regional Council.
Our European initiatives
Action undertaken by the European Institute of Gardens and Landscapes follows recommendations by the Council of Europe Landscape Convention, which acknowledges that: • Landscape quality contributes to well-being and health, both physical and mental • The triple planetary crisis of pollution, climate change and loss of biodiversity has a negative impact on landscape quality • The decline, impoverishment and standardisation of landscape is detrimental to the well-being and health of surrounding populations
