Data collected and inventoried
- by country
Since 2013, the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages has been collecting data from private and public inventories. For each garden for which data is available, the sheet provides information on the history of the site, a description of the garden/park, botanical elements, as well as photographs offering a visual discovery of the site.

In partnership with the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages, the Pôle Document Numérique (Digital Document Centre), coordinated by the MRSH (Caen University Research Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences), designs and develops databases of public and private inventories relating to European garden art.
A vast source of information, these databases are excellent work tools, not only for professionals from the park and garden sector, but also for historians and the many garden enthusiasts.
These inventories are regularly updated and their contents enhanced and augmented (new gardens, indexation keys, geolocation, etc.). Several inventories from different European countries are currently being compiled and will soon be added to those listed below.
This project has been approved by the Ministère de la Culture (French Ministry of Culture) ‘Année européenne du patrimoine culturel 2018′.

- Volunteers
The Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages is looking for volunteers to contribute towards enriching the French inventory on parks and gardens.
The proposed mission consists in collecting information out in the field, and in meeting with garden owners in order to complete and update the data held within the inventory which is accessible on line, by means of the following provided tools:
- a pre-inventory sheet summarising the information to collect out in the field.
- a volunteer’s manual offering a work method, whatever the volunteer’s existing knowledge.
