Archives and gardens: sources and testimonies of gardens

As a natural extension to the L’Oise des Jardins exhibition, Creators and Creations (1600-1920), and the eponymous publication, the departmental archives hope to initiate dialogue between disciplines so as to highlight the relevance of archives in the study of gardens and contemporary considerations on their conservation, be they associated with heritage, the environment or purely aesthetic.

In the face of these conservation challenges, this one-day event will focus on the great diversity of useful documentation typologies for research work on gardens.

The event aims at approaching archives as both a useful tool for restoration, protection and valorisation of gardens, and for recreating those that have fallen into neglect and disappeared.
