This symposium aims to clarify the relationships—whether maintained, imposed or chosen, real or fictional—between women and flowers during the period from the 1840s to the 1930s, in France and Great Britain, as well as in Canada and the United States, from a resolutely interdisciplinary perspective, examining botany and floral art as much as literature and the visual arts.
