Des jardins historiques aux plant studies – Paris (France)
18 March 2026 / 5pm-8pm
From historic gardens to plant studies
Every year, in a political aim to encourage and support young researchers, the INHA (French National Institute for Art History) invites a research collective to propose a creative scientific project in a field related to the history of art. The Studio XIX association is the tenth collective to be hosted by the INHALab.
The plant turn, which emerged in the field of social and human science in the 2010-2020 period, offers new scope for representing 19th-century flora. Before an increasingly industrialised and urbanised backdrop, this third edition will explore visual and textual productions associated with botany, horticulture, flower selling and garden art.
